State Rep Jay Edwards on Portsmouth this Week

Portsmouth and Tiverton District 70 State Representative Jay Edwards was my guest on this week's edition of Portsmouth this Week. Our primary topic for discussion was the House Bill that he sponsored which would establish a permanent and comprehensive funding mechanism for all 23 bridges over 700 feet long in the state and preclude the need for the controversial toll on the Sakonnet River Bridge. A simlar bill has been introduced in the State Senate by Senator Louis DiPalma of Middletown. Representative Edwards described the details of his bill, indicating that the Senate Finance Committee could hold hearings on the bill as early as Tuesday. He believes that these bills have a reasonable chance of success in resolving this divisive problem.
