About Doug
I retired from the Naval War College in 1991 after teaching there as the Intelligence Chair for five years. Completed my PhD from Salve regina University in 1993 and taught International Business subjects in Johnson & Wales University's MBA program for 13 years. I retired from full time teaching in 2006. I've also taught courses on China, Globalization and International Law and Organizations in the Salve Graduate Extension Study program for the past several years. I'm one of five Race Officers in the Coaster's Harbor Navy Yacht Club, conducting races on Wed nights during the summer for Rhodes-19 class races and occasional regattas. I keep my sailboat, a 35' Chris Craft Carib 35 ketch, at the Naval Station Newport marina and sail/cruise as often as I can in the summer. I joined the Portsmouth Economic development Committee in 2006 and worked on the Portsmouth Wind Turbine project. I'm also chairman of the Bristol Ferry Town Common Committee, dedicated to preserving the integrity and condition of this historic Town property.

Hi, Doug,
I finally got around to checking out Portsmouth Patch (you're so far out "in the country!"). It's most interesting to read over the problems and concerns in our neighboring communities that aren't that apparent when one just reads newspaper pieces.
Maybe Aquidneck Island Patch bloggers should get together in person some time!
