Road Paving, 375th Anniversary Tops 'Portsmouth This Week'
Portsmouth Public Works Director is Guest on Portsmouth this Week
Dave Kehew, Director of Portsmouth Public Works, was our guest on the latest session of Portsmouth this Week, taped on Friday at the PEG studio. Dave discussed a variety of topics relating to the operations of the DPW including details of the road repaving project, which has already begun and will continue in the months ahead. The refurbishment of Portsmouth's roads after years of "deferred" maintenance was the centerpiece of John Klimm's budget proposal and was considered to be vital to the town's future. $1 million has been approved by the Town Council for the road repair effort this year, although, as Dave Kehew admits, similar investments will be needed in the futrure to keep up with normal wear and tear on our road system.
The show concluded with a brief discussion of planning that is taking place for next year's 375th Anniversary or the founding of Portsmpouth in 1638. Work on this celebration is just beginning and volunteers are needed. This should be a real cimmunity effort, so residents are asked to contact their local committees or other organizations to get involved.
Portsmouth this Week is aired on PEG TV (Cox channel 18) on Wednesdays at 7:30 PM and can be viewed anytime by clicking on the video box above.
