On the article Politifact Rules False Palumbo Claim about Sex Offender Notification

Reply"shift the burden off of Cranston ... to the state" That's exactly it, along with SORNA providing $$$$ the State needs and a section about juveniles.
Dog on the lap was my request due to a safety issue and would have been better if when passage of the NO TEXTING there was a all inclusive bill being anything Distracting. I am not defending the merits of the Bill as they do not compare to Calamari (Stupid Bills: http://www.stupidlaws.com/laws/united-states/rhode_island/). Health, Safety and welfare of residents and animals is most important.
Palumbo has tried the illegal enforcement and he can't get the House to see the importance. Similarly he has been working on the SORNA Bill for years and this year the A.G.'s office is behind him. Sex Offender Advocates are popping up all over these days because there are so many of them getting out with hardly enough time served. It is they that twist the pendulum to have us believe they hardly re-offend. I have been watching this for years and spoken to C.O.'s and others that say they absolutely are repeat offenders. Keep trying though....it's just they way you all like to groom.
Palumbo's "I believe" statement was grossly off on the amounts, but the core of what he asserts is correct on SORNA being a huge asset.

Baywatch said it...both sides to fault. Parent rearing point is right on.
I hope you have someone running against Joe McNamara Ed. It's pretty sickening to testify in his committee and watch the way he treats everyone....intimidating and arrogant. We have far too many lawyers in there and because RI seems so small if you grew up here you it has become incestuous. There are few with an ulterior agenda.
I am for anyone that is not supportive of the current regime, inclusive of Gov. Gump and his yellow suited cronies.

ReplyGood point about the helmet, however there are far less bikers than motorists. I am aware of the famous Hurt Study that supports wearing a helmet greatly reduced head injuries. I do feel the seriousness of most motorcycle accidents are more serious that a helmet wouldn't do anything and best to cash in on the life insurance policy. I guess we could twist this in any direction, making for a healthy debate. The principal question was allowing checkpoints and giving the police enforcement the ability to use judgement by randomly making sure those with reason for further testing.....which I still see no issue with. Such authority trumps the drunk erratic alcoholic drivers as s/he gets behind the wheel and gets pulled over for random additional scrutiny, I have no problem with that!
Most States have the seat belt law as primary law http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seat_belt_legislation_in_the_United_States, yet I found it interesting that the laws pertaining to minors were often not covering the younger children. See the chart attached. I'm hoping most have since passed Amendments.

ReplyThe reality is seat belts save lives. Seat belts saved 75,000 lives between 04-08 (http://www.nsc.org/safety_road/DriverSafety/Pages/SeatBelts.aspx). Just like children's car seats or rules about not putting children in the front seat with an air bag - - they are there to force people to take use a privilege with safety. I have no problem with being stopped to either.
Reality and facts put on Hair Dryers is do not use while in the bathtub (Da, while it may be obvious it is put there because so many people sue). Although this is voluntary to follow....based on your stupidy to disregard the directions you have no one to sue or blame. As far as a death of a child, the parents would be required under the law to SEAT Belt the kids, and if there wasn't a law....there's the excuse to not.
Also, if you are going to learn to drive you should see the flip side of using bad judgment when driving and graphic sticks with you, it did with me when I took drivers Ed. I searched the internet for those pictures which were all unrelated and found them with the parental controls on my search function.

ReplyValerie, a friend of mine which I'm on her Board for the Alliance for Safe Communities had worked for 20+ years with juvie detention and said had witnessed many horrible twisted kids. She said the psycho ones start young. I think your right that it shouldn't be just about age....really its the severity and over a re-offense would then go on. My Alliance friend said by 13 you can see their issue clearly. I liked your prom analogy.....the sad part is, there's so few of us that will actually check on that information. Some people think I'm a bit hyperfocused on this stuff, perhaps because I'm in the Club and know the way it works. Anyhow, I think you should start an Op-ed series on this subject. You really are a walking encyclopedia S.O.'s and connect the dots to help all readers....a gift.
@ Leave RI, I still believe in hangings and or harvesting their organs for Donor list people and then I would go with anyone of of the one's to sizzle them!

ReplyJust showing that juveniles we punish with small infractions that have a harsh punishment. Although, much of what I have seen, heard and read starts young and if we had better accountability early on with help, than we might find less devient behaviors. To me, it seems juveniles are far more villified by being on the Registry
S.O. Adults in Rhode Island are not made to pay for their crimes and continue to destroy lives after SHORT Sentences. This crime mentioned in the article is sick.

ReplyThankfully this did NOT pass! Thank you Carolyn Mederios of Alliance for Safe Communities and Terry Gorman, President of Rhode Islanders for Immigration Law Enforcement testified in opposition to this messed up proposed bill. Why don't we have ICE do their job and start enforcing our current laws.

100+ countries already use a BAC of .05, which the US is now looking to lower our BAC levels. Facts, your judgment and eyesight are impaired. Ex: 30yr old male at 180lbs would have to consume 4 Beers in 1 hour to reach .05 blood level and similarly, a 30yr old female at 130lbs would only have to drink 2 glasses of wine. The American Beverage Institute (Bars, Restaurants etc), calls the NTSB recommendation 'LUDICROUS' and "would criminalize perfectly responsible behavior."
The change in Europe was cut in HALF when they made the switch over from .08 to .05. When so many Americans see nothing wrong with such irresponsible behavior, I again, have no problem under protecting my safety, health and well-being to have checkpoints period. However, I think the best way to prove this is an additional way of protection with results...then an independent study would have to be conducted in order to prove its worthiness. Thank you for your comments.
