ReplyThis is terrible - kids walk home from school - sometimes from after school activities that would have had them at Cumby's around this time - Thank God he didn't kill anyone... very lucky and hope there won't be another opportunity.

ReplyTamori, I am not in school administration however I have three children in Portsmouth Schools, two in the HS. As a parent first, my goal is to be sensible and help my kids understand when to be concerned so as not to be scared of everything. By early this morning, State Police and k9 units had searched the entire school and found nothing. I do not think the school should brush threats like this off, I was not implying that. Rather I felt appropriate actions were taken by school administration and that's why I was comfortable sending my own children to school.

ReplyI am hearning that many children were called out of school today despite the measures taken and no actual device found. Have we really become a society that is so traumatized by a threatening note left in a boys bathroom?

ReplyThese men and woman are, for the most part, very underappreciated. Likewise, their families, who also pay a debt to society. What a great way to honor those who we count on when it really counts.

I feel the school did a great job under the circumstance however I suggest that the district enhance drills so that the kids are clearly aware of where their bus will be or what the protocol is alternately. My children also could not locate their bus and walked home.
