Thanks to the blizzard, Portsmouth is expecting up to 24 inches of snow this weekend. See how many inches have fallen in your area with the LIVE map below.
The map above, provided by the National Weather Service, shows snowfall in the past 24 hours. It is updated every 6 hours. This is not a map showing overall snow depth: It only tracks the amount of snow that has fallen in the past day. The map is centered around the red marker, which is in the middle of Portsmouth Patch's coverage area.
White-out conditions are expected. Motorists are advised to stay off the roads before 1 p.m.
Snowfall and strong winds are expected to continue today until 1 p.m., the National Weather Service predicts. Snow accumulation is estimated at around two feet for Rhode Island, including Aquidneck Island, with another 4 to 8 inches of snow expected to fall before this afternoon. Snow, mainly before 1 p.m., could be heavy at times. The NWS reports that blizzard conditions will make for dangerous travel with visibilities near zero in white-out conditions. The NWS has also issued a coastal flood advisory for the area that is in effect until 8 a.m. today.
