Mt. Hope Bridge Climbers Reported to Police; YouTube Video Disappears

The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority has contacted the State Police after two men allegedly climbed the Mount Hope Bridge last October and posted the video on YouTube.

Two men, who allegedly climbed the Mount Hope Bridge this past fall and posted the video on YouTube, are apparently keeping a low profile, reports The Sakonnet Times.  The incident, which occurred in October, was reported to the State Police by the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority, according to The Sakonnet Times.  The video, which did not show the actual climb, has also apparently been removed from YouTube, according to the article.  The Mount Hope Bridge spans Portsmouth and Bristol, and reaches a height of 285 feet. Climbing the bridge is illegal and extremely dangerous.

SOUND OFF: Should Video Linked to Libya Ambassdor Attack be Removed?

A video mocking the Islam founding prophet may have sparked an attack in Libya.

The killings in Libya Tuesday of U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi is said to have been sparked by anger over a video mocking the founding prophet of Islam, according to the New York Times.  A mob attacked the consulate Tuesday, and Stevens and three American staffers were killed in the attack. Sean Smith, an information management officer, and Stevens are the only two killed who have been named, pending relative notification, according to the State Department. The Huffington Post reported this morning that the maker of the video, Sam Bacile, 56, of California, has gone into hiding. Blogger John McDaid Files Open Meetings Complaint Against Portsmouth School Committee

Portsmouth blogger John McDaid claims the School Committee has violated the Open Meetings Act in its search for the next superintendent.

Portsmouth resident John McDaid, who operates the blog Hard Deadlines, has filed an Open Meetings Act complaint against the Portsmouth School Committee in connection with their search for the next superintendent. The complaint, dated Jan. 13, 2011, claims the school committee violated the Open Meetings Act at their meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011. At the meeting, Superintendent of Schools Susan Lusi announced she would not seek a contract renewal with the district. For a full story about the superindent's decision, click here. Scituate School Leader Talks Cyber Bullying, Sexting at PHS

Portsmouth High School held a workshop on Wednesday, Dec. 8, about how to stay safe online and how to act against cyber bullying.

Cyber bullying and "digital footprints" were topics of  a 90-minute presentation on online safety held at Portsmouth High School Wednesday evening. A group of about 50 people turned out on the cold night to hear Lawrence Filippelli, the assistant superintendent for Scituate schools. Audience members ranged from teachers and students to Portsmouth parents. Other topics covered ranged from Internet safety, sexting and understanding online private information. The event was sponsored by Clements' Market and organized by a group of Portsmouth educators, headed up by Portsmouth High School Vice Principal Jeffery Goss. I am that particular student who made the Quote to the reporter, and I mentioned how this man should have tought the parents how to amp up the Security on Facebook so that they could teach their teens to do the same, or even do it for them.
