Tiverton police charged a Portsmouth woman with felony embezzlement after she allegedly admitted to stealing about $60,000 from Viti Mercedes. Dawn M. Gregoire, 42, of 81 Metacomet St., Portsmouth, was arrested following a nearly month-long investigation where detectives worked in tandem with Viti Mercedes management and accountants to pinpoint a culprit for missing funds. On Nov. 1, Det. Brendan McKinnon received complaint from Viti Mercedes stating that they believed an employees was stealing money from the business. Police say the Tiverton victim was not wearing a helmet.
Police are investigating a late night motorcycle crash over the weekend that has claimed the life of a 48-year-old Tiverton man. Tiverton-Little Compton Patch has learned the victim was identified as 48-year-old Paul Mello of Tiverton. Tiverton police say they were alerted to the crash in the area of 1423 Fish Road after a 911 caller reported a motorcycle lying in the road. Officials say a man, riding a 2006 Harley Davidson, struck a utility pole just after midnight Saturday and was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical examiner. Police say the victim was not wearing a helmet. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

After surveillance footage at a business situated in the area of a June 15 crash that killed a 74-year-old local man showed a third vehicle was involved, Tiverton Police are asking residents for help.
The Tiverton Police Department is seeking residents' help in finding another motorist connected to a June 15 crash that killed a 74-year-old man. According to police, surveillance video from a local business in the area where the crash occurred shows involvement of a third vehicle, the make and model of which police have not yet identified. Police released photographs ripped from the surveillance tapes late on Friday afternoon. The images - though blurry and stamped with an incorrect time - feature a white-haired man in a pink button-up shirt and khaki shorts. Tiverton police charged a Portsmouth woman with disorderly conduct and making crank calls last Saturday after she allegedly made several threats to her estranged husband. Deborah Natale, 41, of 34 Buckwheat Drive, Portsmouth, was arrested at 10:15 p.m., Saturday, April 21. She was charged with domestic disorderly conduct and making crank or obscene phone calls. According to Tiverton Lt. Patrick Jones, police received a call from a man on Riverside Drive stating he was receiving harassing calls. Jones said the victim resides there with his girlfriend, and alleged that his estranged wife, Natale, sent text messages directed at him and his girlfriend. A man was transported to the trauma center at Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries Thursday night after his van reportedly crashed into trees off Crandall Road near Brantal's Restaurant. Tiverton Fire Chief Robert Lloyd said the accident occurred at 6:31 p.m. The man, Victor Menard, 33, of Fall River but formerly of Tiverton, is still in critical condition at the hospital as of late Friday morning, according to Tiverton Police Lt. Patrick Jones. Lloyd said a construction van went off the road, struck several trees and was found on its side. Ester Brooks was found safe a friend's home in Little Compton after being reported missing on Dec. 29.
Ester Brooks, the 16-year-old local Tiverton teenager reported missing, was found safe at a friend's home in Little Compton Friday afternoon, according to Tiverton police. Lt. Patrick Jones reported shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday that Brooks was found safe. Her parents are working with police so she can be placed in support services to prevent her from running away again. Tiverton police are seeking information regarding the well-being of a 16-year-old local girl, Ester Brooks, who was reported missing on Dec. 29. According to Lt. Patrick Jones and Det. Brendan McKinnon, Brooks' parents came into the police station on Dec. 29 to report their daughter, Ester, was missing. "They had no contact with her for a period of time," McKinnon said. Justin LaFleur, 18, of 24 Cedar Ave., Portsmouth, was arrested in Tiverton at 2:48 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 17 at 3465 Main Road. LaFleur was charged with reckless driving. Police said an officer on patrol saw a vehicle go by at a high rate of speed on Main Road heading north from Tiverton Four Corners. The officer obtained a radar speed of 112 miles per hour. After taking pursuit and pulling over the vehicle, the driver, LaFleur was cited. Jones said LaFleur claimed he was in a fight with a friend that night.

A Portsmouth man and former employee of the recently opened Restaurant 524, at 524 Main Road, Tiverton, allegedly attempted to cash a business check without the owner's knowledge, according to the Tiverton Police Department. Anthony J. Lucci, 44, of 68 Oliver Hazard Road, Portsmouth, was arrested at 2:03 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 22. He is charged with larceny under $500. According to Lt. Patrick Jones, Lucci turned himself into court in Newport on Nov. 27 and was arraigned on Tiverton's charge. Jones said police received a complaint from the owner of Restaurant 524 about a recently terminated employee, identified as Lucci.
