This is our friendly reminder that it is illegal to drink in public. Yes, even on St. Patrick's Day.
In 2012, police kept busy on St. Patrick's Day when 72 people were either arrested or cited. The year before that, there were 95 arrests on parade day. A majority of the list involved alcohol-related citations, which was made up of both locals and out-of-towners. While Newport police said last year was potentially a perfect storm for parade day partiers, since the Saturday parade coincided with St. Patrick's Day and beautiful weather, this year may not be as ideal. According to the National Weather Service, there is a slight chance of snow showers between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a slight chance of rain after 2 p.m. Temperature are expected to reach a chilly 39 degrees. If you're going to brave the cold to enjoy Newport'…

This is our friendly reminder that it is illegal to drink in public. Yes, even on St. Patrick's Day.
Remember last year, when there were 95 arrests just on parade day? A majority of the list involved alcohol-related citations, which was made up of both locals and out-of-towners. Newport police have said this could be a recording-breaking year when it come to arrests and citations since Parade Day will be the perfect storm for partiers: It's a Saturday, it's St. Paddy's day, and the weather is supposed to be beautiful. What business offers the best place to celebrate all things Irish? You might be surprised.
The results are in and Portsmouth's only Mexican restaurant, El Parque, was chosen as the best place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Portsmouth. El Parque is also known locally as Tremblay's Bar, a well-known "Watering Hole" as the sign reads out front. El Parque came in first in the Readers' Choice poll with 32 percent support and 33 votes, holding onto the lead for most of the week. Coming in second was the Valley Inn restaurant, which garnered 28 percent of the votes. So who knew a Mexican restaurant could be the best place to celebrate all things Irish? Well, even the Irish love burritos. They have delicious mexican food and friendly service. I have been there several times and enjoy it every single time. It's a must to try their…

Most people in Ireland agree that corned beef first appeared in …   more ›
