Police arrest South County woman Friday for allegedly driving under the influence (DUI). She was later charged with assault at the police station for allegedly trying to bite an officer.
Adrienne Longtin, 23, of South Kingstown, was arrested early Friday morning following a traffic stop on West Main Road across from Raytheon Integrated Systems. Police say they stopped the vehicle, which was being operated by Longtin, for traveling at a high rate of speed at approximately 2 a.m. As they approached the vehicle, officers say they detected a strong odor of alcohol and observed the driver appeared to have "glassy, bloodshot eyes," according to police reports. The operator, Longtin, alllegedly failed a field sobriety test given at the scene. She was transported back to the Portsmouth Police Station, where she failed a chemical test, police said.
