Random Act of Kindness Hits Portsmouth

This Random Act of Kindness #13 was found on a car windshield in Portsmouth on Thursday.

Have you received a Random Act of Kindness on your car windshield lately?  I was surprised (and extremely moved) to find the above note, along with a $5 gift card, on my car windshield Thursday afternoon in the Custom House Coffee parking lot.  The note was inside an envelope simply marked "Random Act of Kindness #13." Only the names "Nicole, Keith & Blake" were written on the card.  As you can see above, the Random Acts of Kindness are being distributed throughout the country in honor of the 26 lives lost at Sandy Hook Elementary School. This act is specifically performed in honor of the late Chase Kowalski, age 6.  I want to personally thank this person or persons for this random act. I work at a Dunkin Donuts in Portsmouth and have seen a lot of random acts of kindness lately. At least once a week i have come across a person in the drive thru that offers to pay for the person's order behind them. One morning we had about 8 cars in a row do it. In the wake of the Newtown, CT, shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Tewksbury parents may find their children hearing about the tragedy or seeing it on the news and find themselves in a difficult discussion. For parents seeking guidance on how to address the tragedy with their own children, if it comes up, PBS has an article with flexible suggestions for answering kids' questions about the news. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) also has a 24-hour hotline dedicated to providing disaster crisis counseling at 1-800-985-5990 or by texting "TalkWithUs" to 66746. CT Elementary School Children Being Evacuated After Shooting

Town officials say they're trying to reunite parents with children who remain under lockdown at Sandy Hook Elementary School following confirmed shootings Friday morning.

Officials in Newtown, CT, say they're trying to reunite parents with their children in the wake of a shocking reported shooting at an elementary school in the town’s Sandy Hook neighborhood. First Selectman Pat Llodra told Patch that there is no information being released about the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting — only confirming that there was a shooting. "I'm horrified, saddened and shocked that this happened in Newtown," Llodra said. "Our priorities right now are making sure everyone safe and reuniting parents with their children."
