The FDA is recalling pet products from a number of brands. Kasel Associated Industries of Denver is voluntarily recalling all products manufactured at its Denver facility from April 20 to Sept. 19 because of possible Salmonella contamination. The brands included in the recall are Boots & Barkley, BIXBI, Nature’s Deli, Colorado Naturals, Petco, and Best Bully Stick items, according to the FDA. The FDA reported that Kasel has not received any reports of illnesses because of the possible contamination. Trader Joe's Recalls Frozen Chicken and Rice Meal

The grocer has voluntarily recalled 240 cartons of a frozen chicken and rice meal due to possible listeria contamination.

Trader Joe's has voluntarily recalled a batch of its frozen chicken and rice meals from store shelves in 14 states, including Massachusetts, due to possible listeria contamination. The neighborhood grocer announced over the weekend it was alerted by its supplier that some Trader Joe's Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice meals may be affected. The products in question are: sku 99032 with a production date of "305 12" and come in 12.5-ounce packages. "In accordance with our stringent health and safety standards, and out of the utmost caution and care for our customers, all code dates of this product have been removed from sale and destroyed. Two types of treats are being recalled because of possible salmonella contamination.

Kasel Associated Industries is voluntarily recalling its Boots & Barkley Roasted American Pig Ears and Boots & Barkley American Variety Pack Dog Treats because of a possible salmonella contamination. Late July Organic Snacks issued a recall for organic mini peanut butter sandwich crackers.

Update: RI Dept. of Health Announces Cheese Recall

Queso Hebra (fresh white string cheese) is being recalled due to a possible listeria contamination.

Azteca Linda Corp. is recalling Queso Fresco (fresh white cheese) and Queso Hebra (fresh white string cheese) with an expiration date of Sept. 11, 2010. The Rhode Island Department of Health (DOH) Laboratory confirmed earlier this week that Queso Fresco is contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Since the Queso Hebra was made on the same food processing equipment, it is possible that it is contaminated with listeria as well, according to the DOH. Listeria is an organism that can cause serious or fatal infections in young children, elderly or anyone with a weak immune system.
