John Flanders' Internet Consulting Honored as 'Business Of The Year'

John and Roxanne Flanders, owners of John Flanders' Internet Consulting, say they own their success to giving back and "being survivors."

John Flanders, owner of John Flanders' Internet Consulting, was recently honored as Portsmouth's "Business of the Year" by the Portsmouth Business Association in conjunction with the Portsmouth Rotary Club. John and his wife and business partner, Roxanne, received the award in recognition of their business success, the very high reputation of the business and especially for the personal donation of time and assistance to local non-profits, students and others, they said. The award as Portsmouth "Business of the Year" was memorialized by a personalized plaque, a framed Portsmouth painting, a Rhode Island Senate citation presented by Senator Chris Ottiano and a Town Council proclamation by Council President Joe Robicheau. Newport Motor Car Festival Rolls into Town

The Newport Motor Car Festival was held this past weekend at Portsmouth Abbey.

The 53rd annual Newport Motor Car Show rolled onto the grounds of Portsmouth Abbey Sunday just in time for Father's Day. The event, sponsored by the Portsmouth Rotary Club, saw more than 100 car, foreign and domestic, produced between 1910 and 1980, all having been painstakingly and lovingly restored to their original, pristine conditions. Portsmouth Rotary Club member Paul Watters says they hope to raise about $7,000 from the event. Monies will go back into the community in the form of grants and scholarships for local schools. "This is the oldest car show in New England," said Watters and, "has been a terrific event for the club."
