Town Issues Parking Ban for Hurricane Irene
The town is urging all residents to not park on any town roads in the event of tree limbs and power lines across roadways.
The town of Portsmouth has issued a parking ban for all town streets. The reason for the parking ban is to clear up the roads in case of downed trees, limbs and power lines. This will help utility crews and the Department of Public Works clear the road ways faster and safer. "We are asking that Special Attention be paid to all vehicles on Park Ave and its connecting streets which will be subject to possible storm surge/flooding damage," acccording to a press release issued by the Portsmouth Police Department on Saturday morning. The parking ban will take effect at midnight on Sunday.
