AAA: Gas Prices Down A Penny

The price of gas continues its August seesaw pattern, decreasing one cent this week.

Gasoline prices in Rhode Island continue their August pattern of down one week, up the next, then down again, according to AAA Southern New England. AAA's Aug. 16 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.74 per gallon, down one cent from last week. The current price is one cent below the national average for regular unleaded of $2.75. A year ago at this time, Rhode Island's average price was $2.68. The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 32 cents, from a low of $2.599 to a high of $2.919. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
