Portsmouth police made the following arrests this weekend. Employee caught allegedly stealing money from cash register Marci Noel, 31, of Bristol, was arrested Saturday at 8:15 a.m. and charged with larceny under $500. Noel, a Clements' Market employee, was caught allegedly taking cash from the register on four different occassions. The amount of money believed to be stolen totaled $80. Noel was released with a district court summons. She is due back in court on March 15. Massachusetts man charged with driving under the influence Derek Bird, 43, of Mashpee, MA, was arrested Saturday at 8:45 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Police arrest South County woman Friday for allegedly driving under the influence (DUI). She was later charged with assault at the police station for allegedly trying to bite an officer.
Adrienne Longtin, 23, of South Kingstown, was arrested early Friday morning following a traffic stop on West Main Road across from Raytheon Integrated Systems. Police say they stopped the vehicle, which was being operated by Longtin, for traveling at a high rate of speed at approximately 2 a.m. As they approached the vehicle, officers say they detected a strong odor of alcohol and observed the driver appeared to have "glassy, bloodshot eyes," according to police reports. The operator, Longtin, alllegedly failed a field sobriety test given at the scene. She was transported back to the Portsmouth Police Station, where she failed a chemical test, police said. Police arrest a man early Thursday at the Mobile Xtra Mart on West Main Road.
Michael Allen Syslo, 23, of 524 Grafton St., Shrewsbury, MA, was arrested early Thursday morning outside the Xtra Mart, 1568 West Main Road. Police were called to the scene to check the condition of a vehicle operator. Police soon arrested Syslo and charged him with driving under the influence (DUI), first offense. An arraignment was held Thursday in Second District Court. Syslo pleaded "not guilty" to the misdemeanor charge. A pre-trial conference has been scheduled for Aug. 19 in Second District Court.
