Portsmouth Abbey School Raises More Than $13K to Help Clothe Area Children
The Portsmouth Abbey School recently concluded its annual Clothe-A-Child drive, which resulted in more than $13,000 being raised.
Portsmouth Abbey School's 2010 Clothe-a-Child effort surpassed all previous totals, according to a press release from Portsmouth Abbey School issued Wednesday. Students, faculty, staff and parents collectively raising $13,114.85 in two weeks in early December, enabling 487 local children in need to receive a wide range of clothing. Owing to the efforts of the school community, nearly 100 additional children this year were able to be clothed. The Clothe-a-Child campaign has taken place on campus every December since 1990 to assist families in need on Aquidneck Island and in Fall River.
