West Main Pizza in Portsmouth will be closed for another month, says owner.
"Bored," was the one word West Main Pizza co-owner Gary Rahilly used when asked how he was doing after a fire closed his Portsmouth pizza business. Since the fire, Rahilly has been looking for things to do in the meantime. He was found Tuesday mowing the lawn behind the one-story West Main Pizza restaurant while Middletown-based Paradise Restoration workers continued to clean the inside. A white sign, reading "Sorry we are closed due to a small fire," stood next to the front door. "It was an unfortunate accident, but I will be back in business," Rahilly vowed. West Main Pizza is a popular eatery along West Main Road in Portsmouth, especially after Portsmouth Little League games in the summer and a favorite place among workers at the …

Take a look at some of the more compelling police reports from around the state. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Man Hits Milestone 28th Arrest A man from South Kingstown has probably experienced more arrests than some first-year police officers after he was nabbed for his 28th — yes, 28th — arrest this week. For his 28th, the 47-year-old man went all out with a felony charge of possession of crack cocaine. As for his other 27 arrests, the man seems to like diversity. He’s been charged with drug crimes, receiving stolen goods, disorderly conduct, assault and property destruction, to name a few. In 1999, he even had a charge of attempting to escape from a correctional facility. For now, he’s been ordered to serve an 18-month suspended sentence and 18 months of probation, as well as substance abuse counseling. …Not To Be Upstaged Speaking of repeat …

Mary Sweeney, the daughter of Middletown Police Sgt. Patrick Sweeney, organized a demonstration and staged a crash Tuesday at Portsmouth High School.
It didn't take Mary Sweeney long to realize the topic for her senior project, but she might have wished it happened under different circumstances. Sweeney, a senior at Portsmouth High School, says she was driving one day on her street when another vehicle started driving toward her head-on, on the wrong side of the road. Sweeney hit her vehicle's horn. The operator, a woman, did not hear it. Sweeney needed to swerve out of the way onto the grass as the other vehicle passed, she said. "She wasn't looking at the road. She wasn't looking in front of her," Sweeney said. "My car was completely on the grass in someone's yard. She didn't realize she was in oncoming traffic." That's when Sweeney, the daughter of Middletown police Sgt. …
