Here's our pick of great events happening this weekend around town. 

10th annual Common Fence 5-Mile Run/3-Mile Walk

Race starts and finishes at the Community Center with some nice views of Mt. Hope Bay and the Sakonnet River. Timers at each mile; water stops at 1.5 miles, 2.5 miles and 3.5 miles. Expect a post race party with refreshments and D.J.! Online registration is closed. 

Polo: USA vs. Jamaica 

The match on Saturday, Aug. 17, features the return of the ever-popular Jamaican Polo Team to play against USA in the Newport International Polo Series. The Jamaicans have a long standing rivalry against USA, and drew a near-record crowd last season that enjoyed a USA comeback in the second half but lost by a goal. St. Barnabas Church Annual Yard Sale

St. Barnabas's Annual Yard Sale is Saturday, August 17th from 9 - 1 p.m.  Anyone who would like to rent a table can call 683-1343 ($10 per table).  

Community Wide Yard Sale

Balfour Beatty Communities will be hosting a community wide yard sale Saturday, 8/17, rain or shine.  The yard sales will take place throughout the communities of Greene Lane and Coddington Cove in Middletown; Melville Housing in Portsmouth; & Ft. Adams, Hart Field, and Farragut Field located in Newport.  The yard sale will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Please contact Kristen Connor at 846-8877 for more details.
