School Committee to Vote on $36.9m Budget

Vote planned Wednesday night.

The School Committee on Wednesday will vote on a $37.9 million budget for the next fiscal year.

It was arguably a tough year for the district as it expects to lose $531,000 in local revenue next year, of which $246,000 less is coming from the state aid thanks to changes to the fair funding formula.

The School Committee began budget discussions last month with the goal of shaving $650,000 from the budget, the bulk of which through the elimination of 12.1 equivalent staff positions.

The total budget calls for an increase of the town's appropriation of 2.4 percent over last year.
