Krizic resigned as superintendent on July 31 after a 30-day leave of absence due to a personal, family matter.

In July, Portsmouth Patch asked School Committee Chairman David Croston about rumors surrounding a contract buyout. At the time, he said those rumors were false.

Krizic's time in the Portsmouth School District was not void of controversy since she began in the summer of 2011.

The superintendent made headlines in the last couple of years after the creation of a controversial school district logo, as well as failing to register her vehicle in the state of Rhode Island within the required time period.
