The Portsmouth School District will spend $8,000 to increase security at schools following the shooting in Newtown, CT, reported The Providence Journal on Thursday.
The school district will purchase new ID badges for employees and make improvements to intercom systems, according to The Journal.
The steps are being taken in response to the shooting in Newtown, CT, which is being considered the worst school shooting in recent U.S. history.
Portsmouth schools are also flying green flags in memory of the Newtown, CT, victims.
