The Portsmouth School Committee will vote in a new leader this Tuesday night, confirmed committee member Jonathan Harris.
Harris, on Thursday, spoke before the Portsmouth Town Council and . Harris also spoke with Patch and said a vote will take place this Tuesday for a new school committee chairperson.
The new leader will fill the role left vacant after . Chairwoman Perrotti announced last week her intentions to step down from the school board for "personal reasons."
The vote will also take place before the town council fills the empty seat on the committee. By town charter, the council is tasked with appointing a new member.
The council previously voted to advertise for this open vacancy on the school committee.
The deadine for applications is June 5 at noon. Applications for the school committee vacancy can be picked up in the or on the town's Web site.
The school committee will meet Tuesday, May 22, at 7 p.m. at a location to be determined, according to the district Web site. The committee typically meets at .
