Little is Officially Hathaway's Principal

She's not the interim principal anymore.

Lisa Little has been the interim principal at Hathaway Elementary School for some time, but on Tuesday night, the School Committee voted to make her the permanent leader of the school.

The unanimous vote follows the recommendation of Interim Superintendent Barbara McGann.

Little was picked after a search that ended up with two finalists.

EastBayRI.com reported that Little said she was speechless, honored and privileged and said the school community "is a fabulous community and I look forward to moving it forward."

Little began her career as a special education teacher in the Portsmouth School District. In addition to being a special educator, she has been a regular education classroom teacher and guidance counselor.

At Portsmouth Middle School, she has served as a NECAP testing coordinator; served on the schoolwide leadership, school improvement, literacy, and RtI teams; served as the English Language Arts Coordinator; and was involved in the evaluation of teachers.
