Carousel Rehearsal Diaries: Dress Rehearsal

Props, music, lighting, costumes - it's time to work it all out for opening night.

It was a long night of dress rehearsal - a time to see how all things come together. Do the costumes fit right?  When do you have to change costumes?  What do you do with the props after you use them?  How do you get the set cleared for the next scene?  These were some of the questions we were trying to answer last night.

For example, one moment I am a prominent mill owner, the next I am a clam digger, then a sailor and then the mill owner again.

We had to work out the music cues for when to begin a song.  That was easier with the piano then with the CD music track.  We ran through the entire play and found lots of things to "tweak."   Thankfully we have another dress rehearsal tonight.  We open tomorrow and are confident we will have it all together by then.
