Voting in the Primaries? Register By Sunday

The deadline to register to vote in the primary election is Sunday, Aug 12.

Planning to vote in statewide primary on Sept. 11? Your final day to register to vote is fast approaching. New voters (or voters who need to make a change to their voter registration) have until Sunday, Aug. 12, to do so. 

Register this week at the Portsmouth Board of Canvassers' office in Town Hall Monday through Friday this week, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The canvassers' office will also be open on Sunday from 8:30 a.m to 4 p.m.

Regular mail ballot application must be received by the Board of Canvassers by Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 4 p.m. Emergency mail ballots will be available on Wednesday, Aug. 22.

Due to last year's remapping of state and local districts in Rhode Island following the 2010 Census, many districts have changed in Portsmouth. 

The final day to register to vote in the General Election is Sunday, Oct. 7. The Board of Canvassers' office will also hold special hours that day, open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for last-minute registrations.

The deadline for regular mail ballot application for the General Election is Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 4 p.m. Emergency ballots will be available on Wednesday, Oct. 17.
