Town Council To Consider Pick for New Police Chief

The Portsmouth Town Council will meet Monday at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.

The Portsmouth Town Council will consider ratifying the town administrator's choice for a new police chief at tonight's council meeting. 

Town Administrator John Klimm has tapped Boston Police Deputy Superintendent Thomas Lee for the position of police chief. 

Lee, a resident of Hanover, MA, has more than 32 years experience in law enforcement, including more than 10 years with the Boston Police Department. 

The council will also be asked to approve additional funding for the demolishing of the former Elmhurst School, as well as hear an update on the town's budget process. 

The council meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
