Sakonnet River Bridge Tolls Begin

After a long process that was met by strong opposition — effective today, all vehicles crossing the Sakonnet River Bridge will incur a 10-cent toll. RITBA officials sent out the following reminder to drivers. 

"We want to remind you that starting today, all vehicles crossing the Sakonnet River Bridge will incur a ten-cent toll.
 
"Each one-way crossing costs ten cents. If you have your transponder mounted properly on your vehicle, you don’t have to do anything further. If it’s not mounted correctly and the transponder reader cannot detect it, you may be subject to additional fees as outlined in your agreement.
 
"If your prepaid account balance drops below your replenishment level (it varies by customer usage), your account will automatically be replenished from the credit card account you provided.
 
"If you have any questions about how your E-ZPass works, please stop by the E-ZPass customer service center inJamestown, call our toll-free number of 1-877-743-9727, email us your question, or check out the 'frequently asked questions' page on the E-ZPass website."
