Portsmouth Council Tables Discussion (Again) on New Thrift Store at Coggeshall School
The Aquidneck Island Christian Academy plans to open a new thrift store on East Main Road across the street from St. Mary's thrift store.
The Portsmouth Town Council has once again tabled the issue of a new thrift store on East Main Road.
The Aquidneck Island Christian Academy is requesting permission to use part of the Coggeshall School building to open a thrift store.
The council previously tabled this decision at a prior meeting. Councilor Keith Hamilton motioned to table the issue for the evening.

The Christian academy has occupied the north wing of the Coggeshall complex since the fall of 2003.
According to the school's application, "access to this facility to be used as a thrift store would greatly assist AICA in its need for financial stability as well as offer to the local community necessary items for sale especially during these hard economic times."

The school would utilize approximately 1,650 square feet in the school's lower level on East Main Road for the store. The former Coggeshall School building is owned by the Town of Portsmouth.
