Once Arrested Rep Fails to Collect Enough Names To Appear on Ballot
The incumbent Rep. Daniel Gordon failed to submit enough qualifying signatures by Friday's deadline.
The state representative, who was , failed to collect enough signatures to appear on the November election ballot, reported The Providence Journal on Friday.
Incumbent state Rep. Dan Gordon (Dist. 71, Little Compton, Portsmouth and Tiverton) submitted 61 names to Portsmouth Town Hall on Friday; however, only 28 of the names were accepted by the Board of Canvassers, reports The Providence Journal. Gordon was required to submit 50 signatures by the Friday deadline.
Gordon, who announced he was running for a second term, may still run as a write-in candidate, but his name will not appear on the November ballot.

Gordon, who planned to run as a Libertarian, became the center of a widespread media inquiry last year after his in Massachusetts.
