Bristol Buys Prudence Island Ferry Dock for $800K
The Prudence Island Ferry dock was purchased recently as an attempt to continue transportation for Prudence Island Ferry residents, reports EastBayRI.com.
The town of Bristol recently purchased the dock from Bruce Medley for a total of $800,000, according to EastBayRI.com.
Medley, the operator of the Prudence Island Ferry, previously announced his plans to retire and end service to Prudence Island in December of this year.

Since his retirement announcement, the towns of Portsmouth and Bristol have been working to resolve the issue of transport to and from Prudence Island. The ferry is the only means of public transport for Prudence Island residents to the mainland.
The town of Portsmouth previously issued a RFP for ferry service to the island.
