Alleged Rabbit Killer Avoids Jail Time

The former Salve Regina University student accused of killing a rabbit and playing with its corpse was sentenced today.

The man accused of killing a rabbit and using it as a hockey puck avoided a prison sentence from a judge today in exchange for a guilty plea, WPRI.com reports.

Nicholas A. Coyle, a former Salve Regina University student who was 19 at the time of the incident, was arrested last November on felony malicious killing of an animal and cruelty to animals charges.

Coyle allegedly killed a rabbit with a hockey stick and then used the body as a puck, police reports said.

He was sentenced to 11 months of home confinement with two months to serve and a nine month suspended sentence.
