Woman Charged With DUI After Car Crash

The following is based on reports from the Portsmouth Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

A Narragansett woman was arrested Monday after a single car crashed into a utility pole on West Main Road. 

A vehicle, operated by Neda Perry, 57, of Narragansett, struck a utility pole Monday at 7:26 p.m. on West Main Road at Hedly Street. 

Both the vehicle and utility pole sustained significant damage. The utility pole was cracked at its base.

The operator stated to police she had been drinking. 

Perry was transported to Newport Hospital for treatment of injuries and blood test. Results of the test are pending.

Perry was also charged with driving under the influence. 

National Grid responded to the scene to replace the utility pole.
