Victim Identified In Fatal Motorcycle Accident

Police say the Tiverton victim was not wearing a helmet.

Police are investigating a late night motorcycle crash over the weekend that has claimed the life of a 48-year-old Tiverton man. 

Tiverton-Little Compton Patch has learned the victim was identified as 48-year-old Paul Mello of Tiverton.

Tiverton police say they were alerted to the crash in the area of 1423 Fish Road after a 911 caller reported a motorcycle lying in the road.

Officials say a man, riding a 2006 Harley Davidson, struck a utility pole just after midnight Saturday and was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical examiner. 

Police say the victim was not wearing a helmet. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
