Vehicle Runs Over Prudence Island Man's Leg

A man was run over by his own vehicle yesterday morning.

A 58-year-old Prudence Island man was injured Thursday morning after his own vehicle ran over his leg, according to a fire department spokesman. 

Members of the Prudence Island Volunteer Fire Department were called to 0820 Narragansett Ave. at 8:48 a.m., according to Capt. Mike O'Brien, spokesman for the . 

A 58-year-old man reported being run over by his vehicle. The cause of the incident is unknown at this time and remains under investigation.

Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle run over the man's leg. 

The victim was transported to Sand Point Dock, where Portsmouth Marine 2 transported the man back to the mainland. He was then transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

The man has since been treated for a leg injury and released from the hospital.
