At a promotional ceremony held Wednesday May 21, 2014 at the Glen Manor House two Portsmouth Police officers were promoted within the ranks of the department.

Sergeant George L. Grassi was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and Patrol Officer Maryanne D. Perry was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Lieutenant Grassi is a 14 year veteran of the Portsmouth Police Department. He has spent time as a detective inspector and most recently as a sergeant in the patrol division. Lt. Grassi was recently appointed as the department’s field training officer coordinator and also serves as the coordinator for the department’s honor guard.

Sergeant Perry is a 15-and-a-half year veteran of the Portsmouth Police Department. She has spent those years serving on all three shifts in the patrol division. Sgt. Perry is a certified instructor in the statewide Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) and has spent the last several years as a mentor in the department’s Police Explorer program. She was recently recognized at the State House as one of the senior women in law enforcement.
