Truck Crashes Into, Breaks Two Utility Poles in Portsmouth

A truck crashed into two telephone poles Tuesday afternoon on East Main Road.

A truck crashed into two telephone poles along East Main Road Tuesday afternoon as a winter storm began to dump snow on area roads.

The crash occurred after 2 p.m. on East Main Road near Glen Farm.

According to an eyewitness, it appeared the truck jumped a curb, hit two utility poles and wall before flipping over.

One victim, who was not identified, was transported by ambulance to Newport Hospital, said Portsmouth Fire Deputy Chief Michael O'Brien.

The injuries do not appear to be life-threatening at this time, O'Brien said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. It is unknown at this time if the crash was caused solely by weather.

Traffic was detoured around the crash site Tuesday.
