Someone Stole Aquidneck Farms' Sign

The rust-colored sign, adorned with a cow hanging from two hinges with "AQF" in metal lettering mounted on each side, is valued at over $1,000 and was removed from its hinges.

A rustic cow-shaped sign that had been greeting passers-by outside Aquidneck Farms land at 842 Wapping Road Wapping Road was stolen sometime overnight on July 16.

The rust-colored sign, adorned with a cow hanging from two hinges with "AQF" in metal lettering mounted on each side, is valued at over $1,000 and was removed from its hinges.

Police spoke with owner James Booth who said the sign was last seen at around 4 p.m. the day before.

Word of the theft surprised many, including some of Aquidneck Farms followers on Facebook

"I can believe anything nowadays," said Israel Moore. "Someone stole a hand made john deer [sic] mailbox from my g parents farm the first day we put it up."

Others suspected it might be "drunken dopes," as noted by Marie Christine Case, who said Twin Oaks in Cranston and Newport Blues had their signs stolen and subsequently returned after their stunts were publicized on the Internet and news.

The folks at the farm are hoping for a speedy return.

Aquidneck Farms raises grass-fed beef and pastured poultry on conservation land overlooking the Sakonnet River in Portsmouth.

The farm manages about 400 acres of land and its products are sold to locals, farmers markets, speciality stores and in restaurants.
