The Portsmouth Police Department has announced the creation of its Facebook page.
The police department will now utilize this social site to publicize events and update its citizens on activities, both criminal and non-criminal, that are occurring in the town of Portsmouth. The page can be found on Facebook by searching for “Portsmouth Police RI" or by clicking here.
The implementation of the Facebook page offers a new form of communication between the police department and the community.
Visitors to the site will be able to post questions and comments that the department will respond to in a timely basis.
The Portsmouth Police Facebook page is not intended to be used as a reporting method of emergencies. Emergencies should continue to be reported by dialing 9-1-1.
