The following arrest and incident reports were provided by Portsmouth Police. They do not indicate a conviction.

DUIs
Police charged Edward Todd Brant, 35, of 1335 Crandall Road, Tiverton, with driving under the influence July 12 at around 12:38 a.m. after they were called to the Sakonnet River Bridge for a woman on the bridge.

That woman, police said, was Brant’s wife and he told officers who found both of them at the scene that she jumped out of his truck while traveling at  a speed of 50 mph. She was transported to the hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

Police said Brant failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody without incident. He later registered readings of .120 and .121 in two preliminary breath tests administered at Portsmouth Police Headquarters.

Once stopped, Ellis told police that he was falling asleep at the wheel and just trying to get home.

He later failed a field sobriety test and officers reported finding a three-and-a-half inch knife on his belt during a pat-down.

He was taken into custody without incident and registered readings of .125 and .126 in two preliminary breath tests.

He was later released with a court summons.

ASSAULT
Police charged Gilmore Lloyd Farr, 66, of 51 Middle Road, Portsmouth, with simple assault and trespassing July 15 at around 4:14 p.m. after he reportedly tried to force his way into Anthony House on Middle Road after being evicted and grabbed and shoved a 72-year-old man in a motorized scooter.

Police said Farr had already returned the keys to an apartment per a court order and a group of residents were refusing entry before the assault occurred.

A staff member told officers that Farr had been in the process of removing items from his former apartment and was to be allowed in only by a staff member during daytime hours.

DOMESTIC
Police charged Theodore Barboza Amado Jr., 48, of 41 Donna Drive, Portsmouth, with domestic simple assault, domestic disorderly conduct, third offense, and resisting arrest July 15 at 2:30 p.m.

Police said they were called to the address for a disturbance. After an investigation, police said Amado Jr. slammed a door on a woman.

Amado Jr. was combative and was taken into custody after a brief struggle that caused a scuff mark on the side of a police cruiser.

On the way to the station, police said Amado Jr. repeatedly told the officer that “when I get out of jail I’m gonna kill your mom” and said he is “crazy and will kill people.”
