Police Log: Man Drops Pants, Plays Hide and Seek With Officers

Police play hide and seek with 'mooner'

Dropping your pants in front of officers will probably not prevent them from arresting your friend, but that didn't stop one Connecticut man from trying.

Portsmouth police responded to the Friday at 10:50 p.m. for a report of a student allegedly in possession of marijuana. 

At the dorms, officers arrested 20-year-old Ian Walsh of Wolcott, CT. Police say they discovered two small pipes and a small bag of marijuana in the student's possession. He was arrested, charged with drug possession and later released with a court summons.

During the arrest, a friend allegedly attempted to prevent officers from taking Walsh into custody.  

John DeLucia, 19, of Waterbury, CT, allegedly yelled profanities at the officers. A small crowd gathered outside the dorms at this point. 

DeLucia then allegedly dropped his pants and "mooned" the officers. 

As an officer told him he was being placed under arrest, the Connecticut man allegedly ran behind the dorm building and attempted to hide. He was later found and taken into custody. 

DeLucia was charge with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and obstruction of a police officer in the execution of duty. 

Loud exhaust leads to arrest 

A loud motor vehicle exhaust led to the arrest of a teenager Saturday night. 

Police stopped a vehicle, operated by 19-year-old Joshua Sousa of 76 Summit Road, around 8 p.m. on Union Street. The vehicle was stopped for having a loud muffler. 

Police say they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. A small, plastic bag containing marijuana was found in the vehicle. 

Sousa was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. He was released with a court summons. 

Speeding on bridge leads to warrant arrest

Gina Andreozzi, 23, of Warren, was arrested Saturday after the vehicle she was traveling in was stopped on the Mount Hope Bridge.

Police stopped a vehicle for apparently speeding around 11:45 p.m.

Andreozzi, a passenger in the vehicle, was wanted on an affidavit arrest warrant issued by Warren police on the charge of simple assault. An identity check revealed the warrant. 

New Bedford man arrested on warrant

Benvindo Gomes, 39, of New Bedford, MA, was arrested on a warrant Sunday night at 11:45 p.m. 

Gomes was wanted on a bench warrant issued by Sixth District court for failure to appear on a violation.
