Police Log: Man Allegedly Steals Natural Gems, Stones

The following is based on reports from the Portsmouth Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Portsmouth police made the following arrests in past few days.

Man allegedly steals natural gems

John Moniz, 55, of Bristol, was arrested on Sept. 18 after turning himself in at the police station.

Moniz's arrest stems from a complaint filed by the owners of Natures!, a Chase Road business. The Natures! owners claimed certain minerals and gems, including Moldavite, were missing from the store.

An investigation led police to Moniz, a former employee of the store. Police issued an affidavit arrest warrant for the Bristol resident.

Moniz was arrested on Sept. 18 and charged with larceny under $1,500.

Middletown man arrested at Bay View Apartments
