Police Log: Man Allegedly Spits at Cop; Woman Reportedly Steals Jewelry

Contractor allegedly forges septic system documents

Joseph Vieira, 55, of Rehoboth, MA, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly submitting fake documents to employees at . 

Vieira is a contractor for a residence being built on Sloop Drive, police said. In order to obtain an occupancy permit, Vieira's company was required to submit various documents to the town, including a septic system maintenance agreement and a letter from a plumber who performed the work. 

After the homeowner noticed something wrong with the septic system, they began to check documents and notified police.

Officers say Vieira allegedly forged both the septic system agreement and the letter from the plumber. 

He turned himself in at district court Wednesday. He was charged with giving false documents to a public official. 

Man allegedly spits at officer after fireworks complaint

Thomas Levesque of Islington Avenue was arrested Wednesday after police were called to the residence at 9:30 p.m. for a fireworks complaint. 

When an officer arrived at the Islington Avenue residence, he noticed fireworks in the driveway. He approached the occupant, Levesque, to ask questions. Levesque allegedly became "extremely irate" at this point, police say, and began yelling and swearing at the officer. 

A woman then arrived at the house and spoke with Levesque to "calm him down," police say. When the officer approached a second time, Levesque allegedly spit in his direction. 

The officer then attempted to place Levesque under arrest. The suspect reportedly refused to place his hands behind his back. 

He was eventually placed under arrest. Levesque was charged with disorderly conduct, obstruction of an officer in the execution of duty, resisting arrest and possession of fireworks. 

He was later arraigned in front of a justice of the peace. 

Fingerprint leads to suspect in jewelry robbery

Kristen Dacosta, 30, of North Dartmouth, MA, was arrested Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in connection with a 2011 house break-in in Portsmouth. 

Police received a report of a house break-in on Dec. 19 on Cedar Avenue. The thief had allegedly broken into a vehicle while it was parked in Newport and stolen the vehicle's keys and registration. 

When the Cedar Avenue residents arrived home, they found the house was broken into. The vehicle's keys and registration were left at the residence. Several items were stolen from the house, including jewelry. 

An investigation led detectives to find a fingerprint at the scene. Police then issued an affidavit arrest warrant for Dacosta. 

She turned herself in at district court. Dacosta was charged with breaking and entering, and larceny. 

Two Barrington teens arrested after one urinates in parking lot

Two teens were arrested Thursday night after one decided to use the parking lot as his personal bathroom. 

Maximillan Bean, 19, and Kyle Ringling, 18, were both arrested after police were called to the Cumberland Farms near Stub Toe Lane at 7:30 p.m. 

A witness saw a man exit a vehicle and urinate in the convenience store parking lot. 

When an officer arrived, Bean identified himself and told the officer he was the one who exited the vehicle. The officer then noticed a marijuana cigar in the vehicle, as well as pieces of loose marijuana scattered in the backseat. 

Officers also say they discovered a marijuana cigarette and bag of marijuana in Ringling's backpack. The marijuana belonged to both men, police said. 

Bean was charged with possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct. Ringling was also charged with possession of marijuana. 

Both men were released with a court summons. 

Fall River man arrested for alleged marijuana possession 

Anthony Baez, 21, of Fall River, was arrested Friday at 12:20 a.m. after a vehicle stop on West Main Road near the Xtra Mart gas station. 

The vehicle was stopped for having a headlight out. 

Police say they detected an aroma of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search revealed a small bag of marijuana in Baez's pocket and a marijuana cigarette in the vehicle's ashtray. 

Baez was charged with possession of marijuana. He was released with a court summons.
