Police Log: Angry Boyfriend, Domestic Violence, Warrants

The following arrests and incidents were reported by Portsmouth Police. They do not indicate a conviction.

DOMESTIC
Portsmouth Police charged Walter Franklin Castle, 40, of 133 Holiday Court, South Kingstown, with domestic simple assault for allegedly pulling a 43-year-old Portsmouth woman from the passenger seat of his car during an argument.
According to a police report, police were dispatched to Bristol Ferry Road at the intersection of Maggie Lane on Feb. 23 at around 5 p.m. for a report of a woman down on the side of the road.

Police said a witness saw the whole argument and it appeared the two were screaming at each other in Castle's car before Castle reportedly got out of the car and pulled the woman out.

The victim then pushed herself away from Castle and ran away, but she slipped and fell by the time police arrived.

ANGRY BOYFRIEND
Police charged a 20-year-old West Warwick man with domestic vandalism after he allegedly smashed a lamp and a chair during an argument with his girlfriend in a dorm at the Roger Williams University Bay Point campus.
Police said Michael Daniel Iavarone, 20, of 3 Drawbridge Drive, West Warwick, became irate during an argument with his girlfriend after a night of drinking at a nearby house party.

The girlfriend told police that Iavarone has anger issues and she has been dating him for seven months. After they got back home from the house party, Iavarone began to argue with his girlfriend and threw her lamp against the wall when he became frustrated. He then took a chair and smashed it into the floor, police said.

Police said they observed both the lamp and chair damaged on the floor.

The female told police she was in fear and pushed Iavarone out of her room for her own safety.

Campus security detained Iavarone until police were able to arrive.
The Resident Assistant working at the time said she responded to the room after hearing the dispute and the chair that Iavarone destroyed belongs to Roger Williams University.

Police charged Lisa Marie Myers, 27, of 19 Clement St., Tiverton, with a warrant Feb. 18 at 5:11 p.m. after a traffic stop for speeding on West Main Road.

Police said Myers was wanted by Providence Police for a domestic vandalism charge.

Police charged Raul Junior Padua, 33, of 1266 Pleasant St., Fall River, Mass., with driving with a suspended license and a warrant Feb. 18 after a traffic stop on West Main Road because of an inoperable brake light.
Police said Padua had a warrant for failing to appear in Sixth Division District Court.

Police charged Dennis Paul Szafir, 65, of 51 Middle Road, Portsmouth, with a warrant Feb. 14 after they responded to an Anthony Road apartment to execute the warrant for failing to appear in Second Division District Court for a pretrial hearing.
