Police Log: Fall River Duo Allegedly Found With Cocaine, Oxycodone

Oxycodone, cocaine allegedly found on Fall River couple

Two Fall River residents were arrested early Tuesday morning after police were called to investigate a suspicious vehicle on Norseman Drive.

The vehicle's occupants, Chelsea Cote, 19, and , 29, both of Fall River, were arrested around 1:30 a.m. 

Cote, the vehicle's operator, allegedly gave a false name to police when questioned. A female police officer then searched Cote and found a cigarette box hidden under her shirt. The box contained a pill, which was later identified as Oxycodone.

Cote was charged with possession of a controlled substance, Oxycodone, and obstruction of an officer in the execution of duty.

Police also searched Souza and say they found a knife in his possession. A cigarette box was also found on the ground near Souza. The box contained a small bag of cocaine, police said. 

Souza was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of a weapon other than firearm, being a knife with a more than three-inch-long blade. 

Both Cote and Souza were held overnight at the police station and arraigned Tuesday morning. 

Buckle up, especially if you're wanted as a fugitive from justice

A fugitive from justice was caught Sunday after police stopped a driver for allegedly not wearing his seatbelt. 

, 31, of 373 Bristol Ferry Road, second floor, was arrested around 5:20 p.m. after a traffic stop near on East Main Road. Police stopped the vehicle because its operator, Downes, was allegedly not wearing a seatbelt. 

Downes, however, was also wanted as a fugitive from justice out of the Delaware County Sheriff's Department in Pennsylvania. He was wanted for violating probation on the charge of possession with intent. 

Downes was arrested, held overnight at the police station and later arraigned in district court. 

Backpack of Bellevue Blush leads to arrest 

Editor's note: This post was updated on April 12, 2012. The charge against Blake Muccini was dismissed in court. 

Two teens might want to reconsider their taste in local wine after being arrested this weekend. 

Blake Muccini, 18, of Upton, MA, and Zachary Boyer, also 18, of Assonet, MA, were both arrested after a traffic stop Friday at 11:50 p.m. The vehicle, operated by Boyer, was stopped on West Main Road for apparently speeding. 

Police say they saw a backpack in the vehicle's backseat. The occupants opened the backpack, revealing a bottle of Bellevue Blush wine. The backpack belonged to Muccini, police said. 

Police also discovered, during a search, a knife in Boyer's front pocket. A bottle of Bacardi Grand Melon liquor was also found in the vehicle's truck. 

Muccini was charged with possession of alcohol by a person under age 21.

[Updated on April 12, 2012] Muccini was later acquitted of this charge in a court of law. 

Boyer was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor, as well as possession of a weapon other than a firearm, being a knife with a blade of more than three inches long. 

Both teens were later released with a court summons. 

False name leads to trip to ACI

A Providence woman was transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI) after providing police with a false name following a traffic stop. 

Dawn O'Connor, 47, was arrested Saturday at 5 p.m. after police stopped the vehicle she was operating for a lane violation on West Main Road near King Charles Drive. 

O'Connor was allegedly operating the vehicle without a driver's license. She allegedly gave the officer a false name.

Police later learned O'Connor's identity and found she was driving on a suspended license, as well as wanted on two warrants for violating bail. 

Police also detected an aroma of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A small bag containing marijuana was later found inside the vehicle's center console. 

O'Connor was arrested at the scene and transported to the ACI. 

Portsmouth man arrested for alleged DUI

Jay Catalan, 49, of 63 Long Meadow Road, was arrested Friday at 11:55 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence (DUI). 

Police stopped a vehicle, operated by Catalan, for apparently operating erratically on East Main Road near Hargraves Drive. Officers detected a strong aroma of alcohol coming from the vehicle. 

Catalan apparently failed a field sobriety test and, after being transported to the police station, allegedly failed a chemical test. 

New York man arrested for alleged DUI

Michael Duncan, 24, of Rye, NY, was arrested Sunday at 1:15 a.m. after a traffic stop on West Main Road near Turkey Hill. Police stopped for the vehicle for apparently speeding. 

Police detected a strong aroma of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Duncan, the vehicle's operator, apparently failed a field sobriety test and allegedly refused a chemical test at the police station. 

Duncan was arrested and charged with DUI and refusal to submit to a chemical test.
