Man Transported By Rescue After Vehicle Crash

A two-vehicle crash slows down traffic Monday afternoon on West Main Road.

A man was transported by for treatment of minor injuries Monday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash on West Main Road at King Charles Drive. 

Two vehicles — one with a Florida license plate and another with a Rhode Island plate — collided just after 1 p.m. at the busy intersection near . 

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.

Portsmouth Rescue pulled one man from the dark green vehicle with Rhode Island plates. The man was carried on a stretcher to a Portsmouth ambulance and transported to Newport Hospital. His injuries are believed to be minor. 

A second driver refused medical treatment at the scene, according to Capt. Howard Tighe.

Both of the vehicles were towed from the scene. A member of the directed traffic around the two vehicles during the response. 

The vehicle collision occurred during a busy morning and afternoon for the Portsmouth Fire Department. Crews responded to six medical calls and a minor stove fire before the crash.
