Man Allegedly Runs Over Woman's Leg With ATV

Police made the following arrests this week.

  • Peter Tardif, 55, of 502 Black Point Lane, Portsmouth, was arrested on Aug. 18 at 9 a.m. when he turned himself in at the police station concerning a felony assault charge. The arrest stems from incident on Aug. 10, at 8 p.m., when a 60-year-old Portsmouth woman reported she saw an ATV driving fast in area. She approached the man to speak about his driving. The man reportedly became upset, according to police, and told her to move away from the vehicle. He allegedly accelerated the ATV, striking the victim in the leg area. The woman sustained minor injuries on her leg. Tardif was charged with felony assault. He is expected to appear in court Thursday.
  • On Monday, at 1 a.m., police responded to West Main Road at Lehigh Overlook for a reported car fire. A witness stated they observed operator of vehicle flee the area in another vehicle. The Middletown police later stopped that vehicle. The operator never called the fire department, according to police. The woman, identified as Brittany Booher, 21, of Middletown, had a strong aroma of alcohol, police said. She failed a field sobriety test and later refused a chemical test at police headquarters. She was charged with DUI and refusal.
