Fall River Man Charged with DUI

Portsmouth Police charged a 36-year-old Fall River man with driving under the influence Feb. 21 after he was clocked driving 47 mph in a 25 mph zone on Point Road.

Police said Jacob Allen Gordon, 36, of 60 Murray St., Fall River, Mass., did not immediately stop when police tried to pull him over and he was observed crossing the double yellow line on Hummocks Avenue. He eventually came to a slow rolling stop on the onramp to Route 24 north.

Gordon reportedly avoided eye contact with the officer who pulled him over and his breath smelled like alcohol.

He told police that he had about five drinks at "The Beach House" and drank a mix of beer and hard liquor.

Police said Gordon failed a field sobriety test and later registered a .128 and .129 blood alcohol reading in two separate chemical tests at police headquarters.

In addition to the DUI charge, Gordon was issued a summons for speeding.
