A car fire on the Sakonnet River Bridge drew onlookers and a U.S. Navy response this Fourth of July.
A Patch user took the photo featured of the car fire, which was called in at 3:41 p.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported.
Due to limited staffing and fire crews at a boat response at the same time, personnel from Naval Station Newport extinguished the flames.
Portsmouth Fire Deputy Chief said there was confusion on this response after 911 gave different locations.
Traffic was diverted around the fire. Further details about the fire are unknown at this time.
