Lets Give PHS The Credit It Deserves

With the 50th Anniversary upon us, there is no better time to discuss Portsmouth High School. The school is often in the local news, but unfortunately for all of the wrong reasons. It is important to point out how great of a school it is, to balance all of the negativity it does not always deserve.
PHS is home to many advanced courses, ranging from mathematics to art, so that students can excel in the classes they are most passionate about. More and more advanced placement and honors courses are being offered every year, helping students learn more and develop a greater understanding of information in not only U.S. History and English but in Psychology and Photography as well.
Portsmouth High School additionally fosters countless clubs, so that all students can find a place to make friends, try new things, and even discover who they are. There are so many opportunities, as a student could join Philosophy Club, The Gay-Straight Alliance, Mock Trial, Model UN, Student Council, Ski and Snowboard Club, Book Club, Ping Pong Club and tons more. Not to mention the athletics program, which is met with much support throughout the community.
However, the positives do not end there, as Portsmouth High School is a clean and safe environment where students can learn to their fullest potential. The faculty of PHS work hard to make the campus a place where everyone can learn. It is constantly updated so every student can get the best education.
It is easy to forget what a great school is available to the students of the community when people would rather discuss all of the negatives, but lets show some Patriot PRIDE for the 50 years of opened doors at PHS.
